Sign language is a rich and expressive way of communicating that relies on hand shapes, movements, facial expressions, and body language to share meaning. It’s mainly used within the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing community, but it can be learned and used by anyone. Contrary to what many people think, sign language isn’t the same everywhere different countries have their own versions, like Kenyan Sign Lnguage (KSL) , American Sign Language (ASL) or British Sign Language (BSL). Each has its own grammar and structure, making them true languages in their own right, with every gesture, or “sign,” carrying its own meaning.
